Tom and his brother Flynn get dropped on a road on their way home from a friend of the family. It is dark, they are thinking they are on the right road when something happens that scares them. When Tom finally returns home Flynn isn’t with him.
Darcy is a 16 year old, she comes from a family that is worse for wear. She is found dead in a area of Sydney. Apparently, she committed suicide. The Detective that is assigned to the case has things in his past as well that are haunting him. He is determined to find out what happened to this girl, and thinks that possibly it will put to rest some of his own questions or help him recollect things about his sister that was murdered when he was a child.
In this novel of mystery and loss there is almost a thin line that separates the families, but then they are all connected in the end. Either by what is happening now or by what has happened in the past. Some of it comes to light and some doesn’t.. until the very end.
At the beginning of the book, I was confused as to why both stories happened so fast, but nearing the end however, It all came to a graceful end. It was a good book and I would recommend it to anyone.
This is the second book I have read for the Warm Up to Winter Reading Challenge.
