Sarah is a part of the Camellia’s the oldest debutante society in Charleston, SC. This is the place where a girl or a boy in society beginning their training in dancing, manners and all sorts of other stuff. Thing is, you’re in it for life, whether you like it or not. You’re charmed in a way to begin your adult life in a way where you have been taught how to find the right man, how to act in public, even how to decorate.
Thing is, Sarah does everything exactly wrong. She meets the wrong men all the time, drinks, does everything that is not expected of her, falls in love too easily, then falls out even harder.
She moves to New York with her friend, and her friend has even more problems then Sarah has ever imagined.
I finished this book in about 6-7 hours, it was laugh out loud funny, deep, heartbreaking, and sometimes scandalous. Katie Crouch really has written a great book, and hopefully in the future that she will not let us down. I look forward to reading more of her work. It was a great “chick lit” book that gives us lessons that we may have never experienced in life.
